Introduction

Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Nairobi, Republic of Kenya. This Embassy is also in charge on a non-residential basis for Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Somalia as well as for the Union of Comoros. We are also accredited to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), whose headquarters are in Nairobi.
The Republic of Serbia is truly committed to the development of all-round relations with African countries, with which we are connected by decades of traditional friendship dating back to the period of Yugoslavia. These relations are based on the principles of mutual understanding, support and solidarity.
Diplomatic relations with Kenya were established in 1963, the year the country gained independence. Diplomatic relations with other countries that we cover on a non-residential basis were also established in the early sixties. At that time, Yugoslavia played a leading role in the Non-Aligned Movement, which strongly supported the struggle of African countries for independence and liberation from colonialism.
The Republic of Serbia continued to pursue the policy of friendship and cooperation with African countries on the political, defense, economic and cultural and educational levels. The declaration of May 25 as the Day of Friendship with the Peoples of Africa for the Republic of Serbia is a symbolic way to demonstrate the sincere desire to nurture and carefully build relations with African countries. In this context, we would particularly single out the multi-year program "World in Serbia", within which the Republic of Serbia grants scholarships for students from Africa.
In addition to information, primarily on consular issues, here you will find links that will facilitate your access to various information about the Republic of Serbia and the activities of our Embassy in Nairobi. We will endeavor to regularly update data and information and enrich this website with new content.
